In value terms, Turkey ($X), Israel ($X) and Iran ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together accounting for 81% of total exports.
Iran, with a CAGR of +31.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 60% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a remarkable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 206% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2019; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while Oman ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+8.4%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

In 2022, purchases abroad of salts of acetic acid increased by 18% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a mild slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 36%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. In 2022, Turkey (X tons), distantly followed by Egypt (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Iran (X tons), Israel (X tons) and Kuwait (X tons) were the key importers of salts of acetic acid, together comprising 89% of total imports. Syrian Arab Republic (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Kuwait (with a CAGR of +29.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest salts of acetic acid importing markets in MENA were Turkey ($X), Egypt ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X), together comprising 71% of total imports. Israel, Iran, Syrian Arab Republic and Kuwait lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 21%.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the import price increased by 19% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while Kuwait ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
