Copper Sanitary Ware Market Size in MENA
The MENA's copper sanitary ware market rose significantly to $X in 2021, increasing by 9.3% against the previous year. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Copper Sanitary Ware Production in MENA
In value terms, copper sanitary ware production totaled $X in 2021 estimated in export price. The total production indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, production decreased by -5.9% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the production volume increased by 36%. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X. From 2020 to 2021, production growth remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Copper Sanitary Ware Exports
Exports in MENA
In 2021, shipments abroad of sanitary ware and parts of copper increased by 52% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a pronounced curtailment. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, copper sanitary ware exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports recorded resilient growth. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
The United Arab Emirates was the key exporter of sanitary ware and parts of copper in MENA, with the volume of exports recording X tons, which was near 45% of total exports in 2021. Turkey (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Jordan (X tons) and Israel (X tons). All these countries together took near 47% share of total exports. The following exporters - Oman (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons) - each finished at a 3.3% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Jordan (with a CAGR of +85.1%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
In value terms, Turkey ($X), Israel ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, together accounting for 84% of total exports. These countries were followed by Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Oman, which together accounted for a further 8.8%.
Jordan, with a CAGR of +73.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2021, flattening at the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, enjoyed a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the export price increased by 34%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while Oman ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+8.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in MENA
In 2021, purchases abroad of sanitary ware and parts of copper increased by 7.6% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after five years of decline. In general, imports, however, showed a abrupt slump. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, copper sanitary ware imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a perceptible slump. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2021, the United Arab Emirates (X tons) represented the main importer of sanitary ware and parts of copper, comprising 36% of total imports. Qatar (X tons) held a 13% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Saudi Arabia (13%), Turkey (6.5%) and Israel (6.1%). The following importers - Kuwait (X tons), Oman (X tons), Yemen (X tons), Libya (X tons), Iraq (X tons), Morocco (X tons) and Algeria (X tons) - together made up 20% of total imports.
Imports into the United Arab Emirates decreased at an average annual rate of -2.3% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Iraq (+15.3%), Yemen (+12.6%), Morocco (+7.8%), Israel (+7.7%), Libya (+6.1%) and Turkey (+5.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Iraq emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MENA, with a CAGR of +15.3% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Kuwait (-3.6%), Oman (-4.8%), Algeria (-8.6%), Qatar (-9.9%) and Saudi Arabia (-13.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the United Arab Emirates (+8.9 p.p.), Israel (+4.2 p.p.), Turkey (+4.1 p.p.), Yemen (+2.5 p.p.), Libya (+1.9 p.p.) and Iraq (+1.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Qatar (-7.5 p.p.) and Saudi Arabia (-16 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported sanitary ware and parts of copper in MENA, comprising 35% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Israel ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkey, with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in the United Arab Emirates stood at -3.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Israel (+9.2% per year) and Turkey (+5.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, growing by 13% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.2%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the import price increased by 18%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($X per ton), while Yemen ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
