In 2021, the MENA's seeder and planter market increased by 10% to $X for the first time since 2016, thus ending a four-year declining trend. Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a abrupt downturn. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the market remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

The United Arab Emirates represented the major exporting country with an export of around X units, which finished at 68% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Egypt (X units), constituting a 32% share of total exports.

The United Arab Emirates was also the fastest-growing in terms of the seeders, planters, transplanters exports, with a CAGR of +7.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Egypt (+2.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. The United Arab Emirates (+68 p.p.) and Egypt (+32 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) remains the largest seeder and planter supplier in MENA, comprising 73% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Egypt ($X), with a 24% share of total exports.

In the United Arab Emirates, seeder and planter exports expanded at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the period from 2012-2021.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per unit, leveling off at the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 27% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit), while Egypt amounted to $X per unit.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+29.3%).

Imports in MENA

In 2021, overseas purchases of seeders, planters, transplanters increased by 37% to X units, rising for the third consecutive year after four years of decline. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a significant contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 53%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, seeder and planter imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a precipitous shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 62%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Egypt prevails in imports structure, resulting at X units, which was near 98% of total imports in 2021. Palestine (X units) took a relatively small share of total imports.

Imports into Egypt increased at an average annual rate of +15.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Palestine (+26.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Palestine emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MENA, with a CAGR of +26.0% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Egypt and Palestine increased by +97 and +1.9 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Egypt ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported seeders, planters, transplanters in MENA, comprising 98% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Palestine ($X), with a 2% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Egypt stood at +15.4%.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in MENA amounted to $X per unit, declining by -5.3% against the previous year.
