Exports in MENA

In 2021, approx. X units of self-propelled bulldozers and excavators were exported in MENA; jumping by 26% compared with 2020. In general, exports showed a strong expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 48% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, self-propelled bulldozer exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports showed a remarkable increase. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Turkey prevails in exports structure, amounting to X units, which was approx. 90% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X units), mixing up a 5.8% share of total exports. Oman (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Turkey was also the fastest-growing in terms of the self-propelled bulldozers and excavators exports, with a CAGR of +13.7% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Oman (+5.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-8.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Turkey (+35 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of the United Arab Emirates (-19 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest self-propelled bulldozer supplier in MENA, comprising 91% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 4.4% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Turkey stood at +13.9%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United Arab Emirates (-7.4% per year) and Oman (-12.9% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per unit), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+1.1%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in MENA

After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of self-propelled bulldozers and excavators increased by 77% to X units in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 121% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, self-propelled bulldozer imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a deep contraction. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Saudi Arabia represented the key importer of self-propelled bulldozers and excavators in MENA, with the volume of imports finishing at X units, which was approx. 37% of total imports in 2021. The United Arab Emirates (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Turkey (X units), Israel (X units), Tunisia (X units) and Algeria (X units). All these countries together took approx. 55% share of total imports.

Saudi Arabia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of self-propelled bulldozers and excavators. At the same time, Israel (+4.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Israel emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MENA, with a CAGR of +4.6% from 2012-2021. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-3.3%), Tunisia (-6.1%), Algeria (-10.7%) and Turkey (-15.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Saudi Arabia (+18 p.p.), Israel (+9.1 p.p.) and the United Arab Emirates (+6.2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Algeria (-1.6 p.p.) and Turkey (-17.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest self-propelled bulldozer importing markets in MENA were Turkey ($X), Israel ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X), together accounting for 64% of total imports.

Israel, with a CAGR of +3.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in MENA stood at $X per unit in 2021, with a decrease of -34.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 82%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per unit), while Saudi Arabia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
