In 2022, shipments abroad of self-propelled fork-lift trucks with non-electric motor increased by 13% to X units, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Overall, exports continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 93% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, self-propelled non-electric fork-lift truck exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +97.2% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 63% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Turkey (X units) and the United Arab Emirates (X units) represented roughly 74% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Kuwait (X units), Oman (X units) and Bahrain (X units), together mixing up a 24% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Kuwait (with a CAGR of +32.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest self-propelled non-electric fork-lift truck supplier in MENA, comprising 59% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Kuwait, with an 8.3% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Turkey totaled +9.5%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United Arab Emirates (-1.3% per year) and Kuwait (+65.3% per year).

The export price in MENA stood at $X per unit in 2022, surging by 9.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a deep reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 19%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bahrain ($X per unit), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kuwait (+25.0%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in MENA

Self-propelled non-electric fork-lift truck imports expanded remarkably to X units in 2022, with an increase of 8.5% on the previous year. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a mild slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 79% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, self-propelled non-electric fork-lift truck imports rose remarkably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a mild downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 14%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Turkey was the main importer of self-propelled fork-lift trucks with non-electric motor in MENA, with the volume of imports finishing at X units, which was near 38% of total imports in 2022. The United Arab Emirates (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 15% share, followed by Israel (12%) and Algeria (8.4%). Iraq (X units), Tunisia (X units), Qatar (X units), Morocco (X units), Egypt (X units), Libya (X units) and Oman (X units) took a relatively small share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to self-propelled non-electric fork-lift truck imports into Turkey stood at +5.6%. At the same time, Israel (+6.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Israel emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MENA, with a CAGR of +6.1% from 2012-2022. Morocco, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Algeria (-3.7%), Iraq (-4.5%), Libya (-6.1%), Oman (-6.1%) and Egypt (-17.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Turkey (+18 p.p.) and Israel (+6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Iraq (-1.9 p.p.), Algeria (-2.5 p.p.) and Egypt (-17.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Turkey ($X), Israel ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together accounting for 55% of total imports.

Israel, with a CAGR of +5.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in MENA amounted to $X per unit, almost unchanged from the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the import price increased by 304%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($X per unit), while Libya ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
