Israel (+47 p.p.), Oman (+8 p.p.), Egypt (+5.6 p.p.), Palestine (+2.3 p.p.) and Qatar (+1.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while the United Arab Emirates saw its share reduced by -4.2% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Israel ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported smoked fish other than salmon and herring in MENA, comprising 67% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Egypt, with an 8.4% share.
