In 2021, Israel (X units) and Turkey (X units) were the largest exporters of static converters in MENA, together finishing at near 68% of total exports. The United Arab Emirates (X units) held the next position in the ranking, distantly followed by Tunisia (X units). All these countries together took approx. 28% share of total exports.

In 2021, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per unit, picking up by 42% against the previous year. Export price indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +8.0% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, static converter export price increased by +101.3% against 2018 indices. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Tunisia ($X per unit), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+17.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, imports of static converters in MENA rose sharply to X units, surging by 11% compared with the previous year's figure. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 22%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, static converter imports surged to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +34.2% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Turkey represented the key importer of static converters in MENA, with the volume of imports recording X units, which was approx. 41% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X units), Israel (X units), Iran (X units) and Iraq (X units), together committing a 38% share of total imports. Algeria (X units), Oman (X units), Egypt (X units), Lebanon (X units) and Morocco (X units) held a little share of total imports.

Imports into Turkey increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Algeria (+17.1%), Oman (+9.2%), Iran (+7.8%), Iraq (+6.2%), Israel (+5.9%) and Egypt (+4.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Algeria emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MENA, with a CAGR of +17.1% from 2012-2021. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-2.2%), Lebanon (-3.1%) and Morocco (-6.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Turkey (+3.2 p.p.), Algeria (+2.8 p.p.), Iran (+2.4 p.p.) and Israel (+1.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Lebanon (-1.6 p.p.), Morocco (-2.9 p.p.) and the United Arab Emirates (-10.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Turkey ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Israel ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 63% share of total imports.

Turkey, with a CAGR of +10.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in MENA amounted to $X per unit, jumping by 20% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.3%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
