The following exporters - Libya (X units) and Israel (X units) - each reached a 4.3% share of total exports.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest steam blasting machine supplier in MENA, comprising 72% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 21% share of total exports. It was followed by Israel, with a 2.6% share.

In Turkey, steam blasting machine exports expanded at an average annual rate of +11.9% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (-1.1% per year) and Israel (-1.7% per year).

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while Libya ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+1.8%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Overall, imports enjoyed a temperate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 107%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Moreover, Algeria emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MENA, with a CAGR of +26.4% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Turkey (-15.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Turkey ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Israel ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 42% of total imports. These countries were followed by Algeria, Egypt, Qatar and Iraq, which together accounted for a further 23%.

Among the main importing countries, Egypt, with a CAGR of +8.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in MENA stood at $X per unit in 2021, flattening at the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a slight descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the import price increased by 55% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2021, the import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while Qatar ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
