In value terms, preserved sweet corn exports declined to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a buoyant increase. In 2022, Turkey (X tons) was the largest exporter of sweet corn prepared or preserved, mixing up 57% of total exports. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) held a 30% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Palestine (7.7%).
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Turkey (with a CAGR of +34.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest preserved sweet corn supplier in MENA, comprising 64% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 23% share of total exports.

Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 26%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Iraq (with a CAGR of +33.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Morocco ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Lebanon ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 39% share of total imports. Israel, Algeria, Jordan, Kuwait, Iraq and Turkey lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 49%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Iraq, with a CAGR of +32.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, growing by 3.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the import price increased by 5.8% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per ton), while Lebanon ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
