Turkey represented the major exporting country with an export of around X units, which resulted at 81% of total exports. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X units), comprising an 11% share of total exports. Kuwait (X units), Israel (X units) and Saudi Arabia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to metal threading machine exports from Turkey stood at +20.9%. At the same time, Kuwait (+26.6%), Saudi Arabia (+24.7%) and the United Arab Emirates (+6.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kuwait emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +26.6% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Israel (-3.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Turkey (+26 p.p.) and Kuwait (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Israel (-7.5 p.p.) and the United Arab Emirates (-12.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest metal threading machine supplier in MENA, comprising 79% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Kuwait, with a 3.1% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Turkey totaled +28.7%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+14.2% per year) and Kuwait (+42.4% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in MENA stood at $X per unit in 2021, with an increase of 36% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +5.0%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while Saudi Arabia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kuwait (+12.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Moreover, Algeria emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MENA, with a CAGR of +21.7% from 2012-2021. While the share of Turkey (+3.8 p.p.), Algeria (+3 p.p.) and Iran (+2.8 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 137% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Algeria ($X per unit), while Iran ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
