Exports by Country
Egypt was the major exporting country with an export of about X cubic meters, which recorded 55% of total exports. Lebanon (X cubic meters) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Turkey (X cubic meters) and Israel (X cubic meters). All these countries together took near 37% share of total exports. The United Arab Emirates (X cubic meters) and Morocco (X cubic meters) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Egypt increased at an average annual rate of +12.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Lebanon (+58.2%), Turkey (+54.5%) and Morocco (+3.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Lebanon emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +58.2% from 2012-2022. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-18.8%) and Israel (-35.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Egypt (+32 p.p.), Lebanon (+20 p.p.), Turkey (+11 p.p.) and Israel (+5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the United Arab Emirates saw its share reduced by -43.6% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Lebanon ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Turkey ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together comprising 71% of total exports.
Turkey, with a CAGR of +48.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per cubic meter, falling by -13% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 155%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per cubic meter. From 2016 to 2022, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per cubic meter), while Egypt ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
