In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest wood pulp, excluding mechanical wood pulp supplier in MENA, comprising 73% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 20% share of total exports. It was followed by Jordan, with a 2.9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Turkey amounted to +53.4%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+3.5% per year) and Jordan (+18.5% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 25% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.8%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per ton), while Morocco ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Turkey represented the main importer of wood pulp, excluding mechanical wood pulp in MENA, with the volume of imports resulting at X tons, which was near 44% of total imports in 2022. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Egypt (X tons) and Algeria (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 37% share of total imports. The following importers - Israel (X tons), Tunisia (X tons) and Iran (X tons) - together made up 12% of total imports.

At the same time, the United Arab Emirates (+23.3%), Algeria (+13.6%), Egypt (+7.4%), Iran (+6.6%), Tunisia (+1.7%) and Israel (+1.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the United Arab Emirates emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MENA, with a CAGR of +23.3% from 2012-2022. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Egypt, with an 11% share.
