The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when exports increased by 55%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

In value terms, wooden kitchen furniture exports expanded rapidly to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +37.2% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 40%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

Turkey represented the main exporting country with an export of around X units, which accounted for 62% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Palestine (X units), creating a 19% share of total exports. The following exporters - Kuwait (X units), Jordan (X units) and Israel (X units) - together made up 9.5% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to wooden kitchen furniture exports from Turkey stood at +8.4%. At the same time, Kuwait (+42.2%), Israel (+23.8%) and Palestine (+15.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kuwait emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +42.2% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Jordan (-1.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Palestine (+8.4 p.p.) and Kuwait (+3.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Turkey and Jordan saw its share reduced by -3.8% and -5.7% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest wooden kitchen furniture supplier in MENA, comprising 60% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Palestine ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by Kuwait, with a 4.2% share.

In Turkey, wooden kitchen furniture exports expanded at an average annual rate of +8.3% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Palestine (+15.4% per year) and Kuwait (+33.3% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in MENA stood at $X per unit in 2022, which is down by -6.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the export price increased by 26% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, major exporting countries recorded the following prices: in Kuwait ($X per unit) and Israel ($X per unit), while Jordan ($X per unit) and Palestine ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (-0.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in MENA

In 2022, imports of wooden furniture for kitchens in MENA rose modestly to X units, picking up by 1.5% compared with 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 26%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, wooden kitchen furniture imports contracted to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

The United Arab Emirates represented the largest importing country with an import of around X units, which accounted for 35% of total imports. Israel (X units) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Oman (X units), Kuwait (X units), Morocco (X units) and Iraq (X units). All these countries together held approx. 43% share of total imports. The following importers - Turkey (X units), Libya (X units), Qatar (X units), Lebanon (X units), Algeria (X units) and Bahrain (X units) - together made up 19% of total imports.

Imports into the United Arab Emirates increased at an average annual rate of +9.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Oman (+14.5%), Kuwait (+9.5%), Bahrain (+2.7%), Israel (+2.6%) and Iraq (+1.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Oman emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MENA, with a CAGR of +14.5% from 2012-2022. Morocco experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Libya (-1.4%), Lebanon (-4.1%), Turkey (-8.4%), Algeria (-9.2%) and Qatar (-11.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Kuwait and Israel increased by +20, +5.4, +4.2 and +2.5 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported wooden furniture for kitchens in MENA, comprising 24% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Israel ($X), with a 10% share of total imports. It was followed by Kuwait, with a 5.3% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in the United Arab Emirates amounted to +7.7%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Israel (+8.2% per year) and Kuwait (+10.0% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in MENA amounted to $X per unit, declining by -7.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a slight slump.
