The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, man-made filament fabric exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
In 2021, Turkey (X tons) represented the major exporter of woven fabrics of man-made filaments and staple fibers, achieving 61% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Saudi Arabia (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons), together mixing up a 28% share of total exports. Egypt (X tons), Iran (X tons) and Tunisia (X tons) held a little share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to man-made filament fabric exports from Turkey stood at +3.7%. At the same time, Saudi Arabia (+16.7%), Egypt (+7.8%), Iran (+5.9%) and Tunisia (+2.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Saudi Arabia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +16.7% from 2012-2021. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-2.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Saudi Arabia (+12 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of the United Arab Emirates (-6.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest man-made filament fabric supplier in MENA, comprising 71% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Egypt ($X), with a 9% share of total exports. It was followed by Saudi Arabia, with an 8.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Turkey was relatively modest. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Egypt (+10.3% per year) and Saudi Arabia (+16.3% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2021, stabilizing at the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 5.2% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per ton), while Iran ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Tunisia (+4.9%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Man-made filament fabric imports soared to X tons in 2021, growing by 32% on 2020. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country
In 2021, the United Arab Emirates (X tons), distantly followed by Turkey (X tons), Iraq (X tons), Morocco (X tons), Egypt (X tons), Iran (X tons), Algeria (X tons) and Yemen (X tons) represented the key importers of woven fabrics of man-made filaments and staple fibers, together making up 83% of total imports.
The United Arab Emirates experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of woven fabrics of man-made filaments and staple fibers. At the same time, Egypt (+9.7%), Morocco (+9.5%), Yemen (+5.4%), Iraq (+4.8%) and Algeria (+3.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Egypt emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MENA, with a CAGR of +9.7% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Turkey (-2.1%) and Iran (-5.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Morocco (+4.8 p.p.), Egypt (+3.9 p.p.) and Iraq (+2.3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of the United Arab Emirates (-2.9 p.p.), Turkey (-4.4 p.p.) and Iran (-6.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest man-made filament fabric importing markets in MENA were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Morocco ($X) and Egypt ($X), with a combined 50% share of total imports.
Among the main importing countries, Egypt, with a CAGR of +10.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 3.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a slight decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 13%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per ton), while Algeria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
