Brazil was also the fastest-growing in terms of the X-cyanoguanidine (dicyandiamide) exports, with a CAGR of +74.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Uruguay (+20.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Argentina (-27.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina increased by +74, +14 and +7.2 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) emerged as the largest dicyandiamide supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 79% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Argentina ($X), with a 15% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Brazil stood at +52.7%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Argentina (-21.7% per year) and Uruguay (+4.3% per year).

In 2021, the export price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per ton, growing by 3.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the export price increased by 168% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Argentina ($X per ton), while Uruguay ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+8.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Dicyandiamide imports soared to X tons in 2021, growing by 52% compared with the year before. Overall, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, dicyandiamide imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Brazil prevails in imports structure, finishing at X tons, which was near 89% of total imports in 2021. The following importers - Peru (X tons), Argentina (X tons) and Colombia (X tons) - together made up 10% of total imports.

Brazil experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of X-cyanoguanidine (dicyandiamide). At the same time, Colombia (+14.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Colombia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +14.2% from 2012-2021. Peru experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Argentina (-3.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Colombia (+2.1 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In Brazil, dicyandiamide imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Peru (+3.3% per year) and Argentina (-1.7% per year).
