From 2014 to 2022, production growth failed to regain momentum.

Exports in MERCOSUR
In 2022, approx. X units of airplanes and other aircraft were exported in MERCOSUR; dropping by -4.7% on 2021 figures. In general, exports, however, showed a moderate increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 100%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, aircraft exports fell to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 408%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
Exports by Country
Brazil represented the key exporting country with an export of around X units, which recorded 59% of total exports. Colombia (X units) took a 21% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Chile (9.9%) and Argentina (7.4%). Uruguay (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Brazil increased at an average annual rate of +13.1% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Chile (+26.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Chile emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +26.0% from 2012-2022. Argentina experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Uruguay (-4.0%) and Colombia (-5.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Brazil and Chile increased by +33 and +9.9 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest aircraft supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 66% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Chile ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by Argentina, with a 5.5% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Brazil stood at +11.5%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Chile (+21.6% per year) and Argentina (-0.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2022, declining by -8.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the export price increased by 185%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per unit), while Colombia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uruguay (+7.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.
Aircraft Imports
Imports in MERCOSUR
Aircraft imports declined slightly to X units in 2022, with a decrease of -2.7% compared with 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 169%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2021, and then reduced modestly in the following year.
In value terms, aircraft imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a temperate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 110% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Argentina represented the largest importing country with an import of about X units, which resulted at 58% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Brazil (X units), creating a 36% share of total imports. Ecuador (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Argentina (with a CAGR of +44.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Brazil ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported airplanes and other aircraft in MERCOSUR, comprising 72% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Argentina ($X), with a 19% share of total imports.
In Brazil, aircraft imports expanded at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Argentina (+13.3% per year) and Ecuador (+8.4% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2022, rising by 35% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 46%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per unit), while Argentina ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
