Exports in MERCOSUR

Stamp and photo collection album exports declined to X tons in 2022, with a decrease of -5.1% against 2021. Overall, exports faced a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 208%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, stamp and photo collection album exports contracted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 257% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Chile was the main exporter of albums for samples, collections, stamps or photographs in MERCOSUR, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was approx. 65% of total exports in 2022. Argentina (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Colombia (X tons) and Suriname (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 30% share of total exports. Brazil (X kg) took a minor share of total exports.

In value terms, Chile ($X) remains the largest stamp and photo collection album supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 77% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Argentina ($X), with an 8.7% share of total exports. It was followed by Colombia, with a 6.8% share.

In Chile, stamp and photo collection album exports shrank by an average annual rate of -2.0% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Argentina (-24.8% per year) and Colombia (+8.5% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by -8.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 66%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per ton), while Brazil ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Suriname (+12.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in MERCOSUR

Stamp and photo collection album imports dropped sharply to X tons in 2022, which is down by -23.7% compared with the previous year. Overall, imports showed a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 73% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, stamp and photo collection album imports fell to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 99%.
