From 2012 to 2021, the share of Colombia and Ecuador increased by +15 and +15 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest ammonium chloride supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 61% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Colombia ($X), with a 27% share of total exports. It was followed by Ecuador, with a 9.5% share.

In 2021, purchases abroad of ammonium chloride was finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. Total imports indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -30.7% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 126%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, ammonium chloride imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -6.1% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 77%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Brazil prevails in imports structure, accounting for X tons, which was near 72% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Argentina (X tons), Chile (X tons) and Peru (X tons), together constituting a 21% share of total imports. The following importers - Ecuador (X tons) and Colombia (X tons) - together made up 6.1% of total imports.

Brazil was also the fastest-growing in terms of the ammonium chloride imports, with a CAGR of +7.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Colombia (+2.9%), Ecuador (+2.7%) and Chile (+2.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Peru experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Argentina (-3.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Brazil (+15 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Peru (-2 p.p.) and Argentina (-9.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
