In 2021, the MERCOSUR antisera market was finally on the rise to reach $X after two years of decline. Overall, consumption, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. In 2021, purchases abroad of antisera and other blood fractions increased by 24% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Overall, imports recorded buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 76% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, antisera imports reached $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
