The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2020, and then dropped in the following year.

In 2021, Brazil (X tons), distantly followed by Paraguay (X tons), Chile (X tons), Uruguay (X tons) and Argentina (X tons) represented the main exporters of antisera and other blood fractions, together comprising 99% of total exports.

Overall, imports recorded buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 76% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, antisera imports reached $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Brazil (X tons) and Chile (X tons) represented roughly 64% of total imports in 2021. Colombia (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, distantly followed by Argentina (X tons), Peru (X tons) and Ecuador (X tons). All these countries together took near 34% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Chile (with a CAGR of +23.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported antisera and other blood fractions in MERCOSUR, comprising 51% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Argentina ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Colombia, with a 15% share.

In Brazil, antisera imports increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Argentina (+2.0% per year) and Colombia (+5.3% per year).
