Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, aromatic polyamines exports soared to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, showed a deep setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 41%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Brazil (X tons) and Argentina (X tons) prevails in exports structure, together mixing up 95% of total exports. Chile (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Chile (with a CAGR of +32.5%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

In value terms, the largest aromatic polyamines supplying countries in MERCOSUR were Brazil ($X), Argentina ($X) and Chile ($X), together comprising 97% of total exports.

Chile, with a CAGR of +28.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 15% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the export price increased by 113% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per ton), while Argentina ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+17.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2021, the amount of aromatic polyamines and their derivatives, salts thereof imported in MERCOSUR soared to X tons, growing by 20% compared with 2020. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, aromatic polyamines imports expanded sharply to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a slight setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 18%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Brazil prevails in imports structure, accounting for X tons, which was near 84% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Argentina (X tons), creating a 6.3% share of total imports. Chile (X tons), Colombia (X tons), Ecuador (X tons) and Peru (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to aromatic polyamines imports into Brazil stood at +1.3%. At the same time, Chile (+5.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Chile emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +5.7% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Peru (-1.2%), Colombia (-1.3%), Ecuador (-4.1%) and Argentina (-5.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Brazil (+10 p.p.) and Chile (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Argentina (-4.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported aromatic polyamines and their derivatives, salts thereof in MERCOSUR, comprising 79% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Argentina ($X), with a 7.7% share of total imports. It was followed by Colombia, with a 4.9% share.

In Brazil, aromatic polyamines imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Argentina (-3.8% per year) and Colombia (+0.7% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2021, with a decrease of -9.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a slight curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 30% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Colombia ($X per ton), while Ecuador ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+2.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
