Brazil (X units) and Colombia (X units) represented roughly 86% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Chile (X units), achieving an 11% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Chile (with a CAGR of +25.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

In value terms, the largest electric board, desk and panel supplying countries in MERCOSUR were Brazil ($X), Colombia ($X) and Chile ($X), together accounting for 97% of total exports.

Chile, with a CAGR of +11.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2021, surging by 14% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per unit), while Chile ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Colombia (+0.9%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

In 2021, approx. X units of electrical boards, panels, consoles, desks and cabinets were imported in MERCOSUR; picking up by 31% on the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, electric board, desk and panel imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Chile (X units) was the largest importer of electrical boards, panels, consoles, desks and cabinets, achieving 45% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Brazil (X units), Peru (X units), Colombia (X units) and Ecuador (X units), together generating a 47% share of total imports. Uruguay (X units) and Paraguay (X units) took a little share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to electric board, desk and panel imports into Chile stood at +5.7%. At the same time, Paraguay (+6.3%), Brazil (+5.9%) and Uruguay (+5.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Paraguay emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +6.3% from 2012-2021. Colombia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. While the share of Chile (+14 p.p.) and Brazil (+6.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Ecuador (-2.2 p.p.) and Peru (-3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Brazil ($X), Chile ($X) and Peru ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 74% share of total imports.

Brazil, with a CAGR of +5.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2021, picking up by 8.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a slight decrease. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per unit), while Chile ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Peru (+0.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
