Moreover, Argentina emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +23.6% from 2012-2021. While the share of Argentina (+8.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Colombia (-2.4 p.p.) and Chile (-5.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Colombia ($X) remains the largest board, sheet, panel, tile and similar article of plaster not faced supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 66% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Argentina ($X), with a 26% share of total exports. It was followed by Brazil, with a 3.9% share.

In Colombia, exports of boards, sheets, panels, tiles and similar articles of plaster not faced expanded at an average annual rate of +14.9% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Argentina (+21.0% per year) and Brazil (-10.0% per year).

Imports in MERCOSUR

After three years of decline, supplies from abroad of boards, sheets, panels, tiles and similar articles of plaster not faced increased by 16% to X square meters in 2021. Total imports indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 41% against the previous year.
