In value terms, exports of boards, sheets, panels, tiles and similar articles of plaster not faced dropped markedly to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 62% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Colombia was the major exporting country with an export of around X square meters, which finished at 74% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Argentina (X square meters), comprising a 19% share of total exports. The following exporters - Chile (X square meters) and Brazil (X square meters) - together made up 7.5% of total exports.
Exports from Colombia increased at an average annual rate of +14.7% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Argentina (+23.6%), Brazil (+13.2%) and Chile (+5.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Argentina emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +23.6% from 2012-2021. While the share of Argentina (+8.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Colombia (-2.4 p.p.) and Chile (-5.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Colombia ($X) remains the largest board, sheet, panel, tile and similar article of plaster not faced supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 66% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Argentina ($X), with a 26% share of total exports. It was followed by Brazil, with a 3.9% share.
In Colombia, exports of boards, sheets, panels, tiles and similar articles of plaster not faced expanded at an average annual rate of +14.9% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Argentina (+21.0% per year) and Brazil (-10.0% per year).

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($X per square meter), while Colombia ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+2.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in MERCOSUR
After three years of decline, supplies from abroad of boards, sheets, panels, tiles and similar articles of plaster not faced increased by 16% to X square meters in 2021. Total imports indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 41% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Suriname (with a CAGR of +44.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest board, sheet, panel, tile and similar article of plaster not faced importing markets in MERCOSUR were Brazil ($X), Chile ($X) and Peru ($X), together comprising 65% of total imports. These countries were followed by Colombia, Ecuador, Argentina, Guyana and Suriname, which together accounted for a further 29%.
Suriname, with a CAGR of +31.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per square meter in 2021, picking up by 13% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a pronounced slump. The level of import peaked at $X per square meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per square meter), while Suriname ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
