Brazil was the key exporting country with an export of around X tons, which finished at 57% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Colombia (X tons), constituting a 32% share of total exports. Argentina (X tons), Ecuador (X tons) and Peru (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Ecuador (with a CAGR of -3.5%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.
In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest bridge supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 65% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Colombia ($X), with a 21% share of total exports. It was followed by Argentina, with a 5.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Brazil amounted to -22.2%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Colombia (-11.3% per year) and Argentina (-26.0% per year).

Imports in MERCOSUR
In 2021, supplies from abroad of bridges, bridge sections, towers and lattice masts (of iron or steel) decreased by -17.9% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, imports recorded a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, bridge imports contracted to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Peru (X tons) and Brazil (X tons) represented roughly 60% of total imports in 2021. Colombia (X tons) took a 15% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Paraguay (9.3%) and Chile (9%). Argentina (X tons) and Uruguay (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Colombia (with a CAGR of +12.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.
In value terms, the largest bridge importing markets in MERCOSUR were Brazil ($X), Peru ($X) and Colombia ($X), with a combined 73% share of total imports.
Colombia, with a CAGR of +2.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 9.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a slight curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 31% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Uruguay ($X per ton), while Paraguay ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Peru (+1.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
