The MERCOSUR broom, brush, and mop market shrank to $X in 2022, which is down by -6.3% against the previous year. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X, and then dropped in the following year.

In value terms, broom, brush, and mop production shrank to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. The total production indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production decreased by -24.9% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the production volume increased by 70% against the previous year. In 2022, after three years of growth, there was decline in shipments abroad of brooms, brushes, and mops, when their volume decreased by -2.3% to X units. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 24%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, broom, brush, and mop exports expanded slightly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a slight decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 12% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Brazil was the key exporter of brooms, brushes, and mops in MERCOSUR, with the volume of exports finishing at X units, which was near 75% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Colombia (X units), making up a 19% share of total exports. Argentina (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Brazil was also the fastest-growing in terms of the brooms, brushes, and mops exports, with a CAGR of +2.6% from 2012 to 2022. Colombia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Argentina (-7.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In 2022, the export price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per unit, picking up by 7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced slump. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($X per unit), while Brazil ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (-1.9%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in MERCOSUR

In 2022, the amount of brooms, brushes, and mops imported in MERCOSUR reduced modestly to X units, approximately mirroring the previous year's figure. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units, leveling off in the following year.

In value terms, broom, brush, and mop imports contracted to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 33%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then shrank in the following year.

In 2022, Brazil (X units) represented the major importer of brooms, brushes, and mops, making up 48% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Colombia (X units), Argentina (X units), Chile (X units) and Peru (X units), together generating a 45% share of total imports. Ecuador (X units) and Venezuela (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Brazil was also the fastest-growing in terms of the brooms, brushes, and mops imports, with a CAGR of +7.1% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Argentina (+6.0%), Colombia (+5.3%), Chile (+5.1%), Peru (+2.6%) and Ecuador (+2.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. In value terms, Brazil ($X), Chile ($X) and Argentina ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 67% share of total imports.

Chile, with a CAGR of +8.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2022, waning by -5.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a slight setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the import price increased by 14%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per unit), while Brazil ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
