For the fifth year in a row, the MERCOSUR centrifuges market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 14% to $X in 2021. The total consumption indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, consumption increased by +67.5% against 2016 indices. The level of consumption peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the production volume increased by 60% against the previous year. Exports in MERCOSUR
In 2021, overseas shipments of centrifuges decreased by -26% to X units, falling for the fourth year in a row after two years of growth. In general, exports faced a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 255% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, centrifuges exports totaled $X in 2021. Overall, exports faced a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 18%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Brazil represented the main exporting country with an export of around X units, which reached 58% of total exports. Chile (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 17% share, followed by Argentina (8.7%) and Uruguay (8.7%). Peru (X units), Colombia (X units) and Ecuador (X units) took a little share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to centrifuges exports from Brazil stood at -19.2%. At the same time, Ecuador (+36.1%), Uruguay (+25.0%) and Chile (+4.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Ecuador emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +36.1% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Peru (-11.1%), Colombia (-21.1%) and Argentina (-24.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Chile (+15 p.p.), Uruguay (+8.4 p.p.) and Ecuador (+2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Argentina and Brazil saw its share reduced by -11.8% and -14.4% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Brazil ($X), Argentina ($X) and Chile ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 83% share of total exports. Colombia, Peru, Ecuador and Uruguay lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 9.9%.
Ecuador, with a CAGR of +56.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2021, with an increase of 44% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a strong expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the export price increased by 140%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($X per unit), while Uruguay ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+20.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in MERCOSUR
In 2021, centrifuges imports in MERCOSUR skyrocketed to X units, with an increase of 44% on the previous year. Overall, imports, however, saw a deep downturn. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, centrifuges imports reduced to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a deep downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 46%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Chile (X units), distantly followed by Brazil (X units), Peru (X units) and Paraguay (X units) were the main importers of centrifuges, together committing 92% of total imports. Ecuador (X units) and Argentina (X units) took a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Chile (with a CAGR of +16.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest centrifuges importing markets in MERCOSUR were Brazil ($X), Argentina ($X) and Chile ($X), together comprising 68% of total imports.
In terms of the main importing countries, Chile, with a CAGR of -3.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2021, shrinking by -34.1% against the previous year. Import price indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, centrifuges import price decreased by -45.1% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the import price increased by 68%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
