The MERCOSUR civil reaction engine market fell markedly to $X in 2021, which is down by -25.8% against the previous year. In general, consumption showed a significant decline. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, shipments abroad of civil reaction engines decreased by -98.4% to X units, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports recorded a sharp downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 3,677%. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, civil reaction engine exports dropped rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, exports saw a sharp descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 13,187%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2021, Colombia (X units) represented the largest exporter of civil reaction engines, committing 64% of total exports. Argentina (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Peru (X units), Brazil (X units) and Chile (X units). All these countries together took near 36% share of total exports.

Exports from Colombia decreased at an average annual rate of -25.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Peru (+28.4%), Argentina (+16.1%) and Chile (+3.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Peru emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +28.4% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Brazil (-32.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Argentina (+13 p.p.), Peru (+11 p.p.) and Chile (+4.3 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Colombia and Brazil saw its share reduced by -13.7% and -14.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Colombia ($X) remains the largest civil reaction engine supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 47% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Brazil ($X), with a 20% share of total exports. It was followed by Peru, with a 12% share.

In Colombia, civil reaction engine exports plunged by an average annual rate of -33.4% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Brazil (-31.6% per year) and Peru (+36.2% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per unit, jumping by 56% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 2,346%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2017 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per unit), while Argentina ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+9.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in MERCOSUR

In 2021, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of civil reaction engines, when their volume decreased by -54.1% to X units. In general, imports showed a sharp setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 295%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, civil reaction engine imports fell sharply to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 286% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Colombia dominates imports structure, reaching X units, which was approx. 90% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Peru (X units), constituting a 6.5% share of total imports.

Imports into Colombia decreased at an average annual rate of -2.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Peru (+8.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Peru emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +8.3% from 2012-2021. While the share of Colombia (+89 p.p.) and Peru (+6.5 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Colombia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported civil reaction engines in MERCOSUR, comprising 91% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Peru ($X), with a 1.1% share of total imports.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per unit, surging by 6.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 1,512%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
