From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, colour lake exports soared to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 39%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Peru dominates exports structure, finishing at X tons, which was near 91% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Colombia (X tons), mixing up an 8.5% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to colour lake exports from Peru stood at -16.1%. At the same time, Colombia (+2.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Colombia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +2.3% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Colombia increased by +6.9 percentage points.

In value terms, Peru ($X) remains the largest colour lake supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 96% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Colombia ($X), with a 3.5% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Peru amounted to +2.7%.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 138% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 154%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Peru ($X per ton), while Colombia amounted to $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Peru (+22.4%).

In value terms, colour lake imports reached $X in 2021. Total imports indicated mild growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +15.9% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 42% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Brazil (X tons) was the major importer of colour lakes, preparations based on colour lakes, generating 38% of total imports. Chile (X tons) took a 20% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Colombia (15%), Ecuador (8.8%), Argentina (7.1%) and Venezuela (5.7%). Uruguay (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Ecuador (with a CAGR of +7.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported colour lakes, preparations based on colour lakes in MERCOSUR, comprising 57% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Colombia ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Chile, with a 12% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Brazil stood at +2.6%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Colombia (+5.9% per year) and Chile (+2.3% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -15.1% against the previous year. Import price indicated slight growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, colour lake import price decreased by -33.7% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 51%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while Venezuela ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uruguay (+3.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
