In value terms, combine harvester exports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a slight curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 150%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

The biggest shipments were from Brazil (X units), together accounting for 96% of total export.

Brazil was also the fastest-growing in terms of the combine harvester-threshers exports, with a CAGR of -8.5% from 2012 to 2022. Brazil (+8.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) also remains the largest combine harvester supplier in MERCOSUR.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Brazil was relatively modest.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2022, picking up by 25% against the previous year. Export price indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +8.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 71%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Brazil.

In 2022, overseas purchases of combine harvester-threshers increased by 25% to X units, rising for the third year in a row after two years of decline. Total imports indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +138.5% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 70% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, combine harvester imports surged to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a pronounced decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 114% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Paraguay (X units), Colombia (X units), Peru (X units) and Chile (X units) represented roughly 72% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Uruguay (X units), Ecuador (X units) and Brazil (X units), together generating a 25% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Colombia (with a CAGR of +29.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Paraguay ($X), Uruguay ($X) and Chile ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 70% share of total imports. Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Ecuador lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 23%.

Among the main importing countries, Colombia, with a CAGR of +14.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per unit, jumping by 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a deep slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 52% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Uruguay ($X per unit), while Peru ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uruguay (+2.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
