The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 47% against the previous year. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the export price increased by 14%. Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per ton), while Brazil ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, purchases abroad of common pottery increased by 3.6% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Overall, imports, however, saw a pronounced contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, common pottery imports rose modestly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 68%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Peru (X tons), Brazil (X tons) and Chile (X tons) represented roughly 77% of total imports in 2022. Argentina (X tons) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Paraguay (X tons). All these countries together took near 17% share of total imports. The following importers - Colombia (X tons) and Uruguay (X tons) - each recorded a 4.2% share of total imports.

In value terms, the largest common pottery importing markets in MERCOSUR were Chile ($X), Brazil ($X) and Peru ($X), with a combined 76% share of total imports. Argentina, Paraguay, Colombia and Uruguay lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 21%.
Argentina, with a CAGR of +14.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per ton, flattening at the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.9%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the import price increased by 31%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then reduced slightly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per ton), while Peru ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
