In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in the MERCOSUR concrete pump market, when its value increased by 12% to $X. Over the period under review, consumption, however, showed a abrupt contraction. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Brazil was the key exporting country with an export of around X units, which finished at 73% of total exports. Colombia (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 16% share, followed by Chile (7.2%). Ecuador (X units) took a little share of total exports.

Exports from Brazil increased at an average annual rate of +16.3% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Colombia (+37.8%), Chile (+16.7%) and Ecuador (+16.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Colombia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +37.8% from 2012-2021. In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest concrete pump supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 79% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Colombia ($X), with a 9.6% share of total exports. It was followed by Chile, with an 8.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Brazil stood at +11.6%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Colombia (+54.4% per year) and Chile (+33.5% per year).

The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2021, declining by -12.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 44% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per unit), while Ecuador ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, overseas purchases of concrete pumps increased by 24% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 67% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Chile (X units) and Argentina (X units) represented the main importers of concrete pumps in MERCOSUR, together finishing at near 56% of total imports. Peru (X units) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Suriname (X units) and Colombia (X units). All these countries together took near 31% share of total imports. The following importers - Ecuador (X units) and Brazil (X units) - each reached an 8% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Suriname (with a CAGR of +65.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest concrete pump importing markets in MERCOSUR were Argentina ($X), Chile ($X) and Peru ($X), together accounting for 67% of total imports. These countries were followed by Colombia, Brazil, Ecuador and Suriname, which together accounted for a further 28%.

Suriname, with a CAGR of +5.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2021, increasing by 41% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the import price increased by 64% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per unit), while Suriname ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
