In value terms, vapour power unit exports shrank notably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports saw a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 299%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Brazil represented the major exporter of condensers for steam or other vapour power units in MERCOSUR, with the volume of exports amounting to X tons, which was near 71% of total exports in 2021. Chile (X kg) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 13% share, followed by Argentina (9.2%). Peru (X kg) and Colombia (X kg) held a relatively small share of total exports.

Exports from Brazil decreased at an average annual rate of -7.3% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Peru (+26.3%), Colombia (+7.5%) and Chile (+4.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Peru emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +26.3% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Argentina (-25.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Brazil (+22 p.p.), Chile (+10 p.p.), Peru (+3.8 p.p.) and Colombia (+2.4 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Argentina saw its share reduced by -37.9% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest vapour power unit supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 62% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Chile ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by Argentina, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Brazil totaled -6.3%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Chile (-12.4% per year) and Argentina (-25.1% per year).

The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 16% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a mild curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 50% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Colombia ($X per ton), while Brazil ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Colombia (+6.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, approx. X tons of condensers for steam or other vapour power units were imported in MERCOSUR; increasing by 9.6% on 2020. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 6,470%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, vapour power unit imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a notable expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 9,440% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Ecuador represented the largest importing country with an import of around X tons, which recorded 54% of total imports. Brazil (X tons) held a 29% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Colombia (7.8%). The following importers - Peru (X tons), Chile (X tons) and Argentina (X tons) - together made up 8.7% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Chile (with a CAGR of +19.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest vapour power unit importing markets in MERCOSUR were Ecuador ($X), Brazil ($X) and Colombia ($X), together accounting for 95% of total imports.

In terms of the main importing countries, Ecuador, with a CAGR of +17.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the import price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 16% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a measured increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the import price increased by 238%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
