The MERCOSUR cream fresh market reduced modestly to $X in 2022, dropping by -4.9% against the previous year. Exports in MERCOSUR

In 2022, overseas shipments of cream fresh decreased by -3.2% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, exports continue to indicate a mild slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 64%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, cream fresh exports amounted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a pronounced contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Brazil was the largest exporter of cream fresh in MERCOSUR, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was approx. 67% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Argentina (X tons), making up a 31% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to cream fresh exports from Brazil stood at -2.0%. At the same time, Argentina (+15.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest cream fresh supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 85% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Argentina ($X), with a 13% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Brazil amounted to -1.3%.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 13% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the export price increased by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while Argentina stood at $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+0.6%).

Cream Fresh Imports

Imports in MERCOSUR

In 2022, overseas purchases of cream fresh decreased by -25.8% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a four-year rising trend. Overall, imports saw a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 81%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, cream fresh imports declined to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a noticeable descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 52% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

The countries with the highest levels of cream fresh imports in 2022 were Venezuela (X tons), Paraguay (X tons) and Argentina (X tons), together finishing at 75% of total import. Peru (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with an 11% share, followed by Chile (5.7%). Colombia (X tons) and Uruguay (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Argentina (with a CAGR of +483.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest cream fresh importing markets in MERCOSUR were Venezuela ($X), Paraguay ($X) and Argentina ($X), with a combined 73% share of total imports.

Among the main importing countries, Argentina, with a CAGR of +272.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 16% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the import price increased by 35% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Peru ($X per ton), while Colombia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
