As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, denatured ethyl alcohol exports shrank sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, showed a tangible increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 476% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Brazil represented the main exporter of denatured ethyl alcohol and other denatured spirits in MERCOSUR, with the volume of exports amounting to X tons, which was approx. 56% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Ecuador (X tons), creating a 36% share of total exports. Paraguay (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, denatured ethyl alcohol imports reduced notably to $X in 2021. In general, imports showed a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 91% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the import price increased by 6.1% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per ton), while Peru ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
