Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 49%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Brazil (X tons), distantly followed by Ecuador (X tons), Chile (X tons), Colombia (X tons) and Peru (X tons) represented the major importers of double or complex silicates, together generating 94% of total imports. Argentina (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
