Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, bar draw-bench exports declined dramatically to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a measured expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 306%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Brazil was the key exporter of draw-benches for bars, tubes, profiles, wire or the like in MERCOSUR, with the volume of exports recording X units, which was near 60% of total exports in 2021. Argentina (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Peru (X units), Chile (X units) and Colombia (X units). All these countries together held approx. 40% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to bar draw-bench exports from Brazil stood at -10.0%. Argentina (-3.1%), Peru (-13.4%), Chile (-14.3%) and Colombia (-24.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Brazil (+11 p.p.) and Argentina (+8.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Peru and Colombia saw its share reduced by -2.5% and -15.6% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest bar draw-bench supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 96% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Peru ($X), with a 1.9% share of total exports. It was followed by Colombia, with a 0.8% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Brazil stood at +7.8%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Peru (-15.0% per year) and Colombia (-27.7% per year).

In 2021, the export price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per unit, rising by 39% against the previous year. In general, the export price posted a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 59%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per unit), while Argentina ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+19.8%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

In 2021, approx. X units of draw-benches for bars, tubes, profiles, wire or the like were imported in MERCOSUR; which is down by -52.7% against 2020 figures. Overall, imports saw a deep reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 188%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units, and then fell notably in the following year.

In value terms, bar draw-bench imports shrank rapidly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a deep downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 30% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Brazil (X units) and Venezuela (X units) represented the major importers of draw-benches for bars, tubes, profiles, wire or the like in MERCOSUR, together comprising 69% of total imports. Colombia (X units) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 9.4% share, followed by Peru (8.2%), Ecuador (6.7%) and Chile (5%).

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Brazil (with a CAGR of +0.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.

In value terms, Peru ($X), Colombia ($X) and Brazil ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 57% share of total imports.

Peru, with a CAGR of -2.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.

The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2021, picking up by 72% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a abrupt decline. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Peru ($X per unit), while Brazil ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+4.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
