Colombia (X square meters) and Brazil (X square meters) dominates exports structure, together achieving 87% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Chile (X square meters) and Peru (X square meters), together generating a 12% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Colombia (with a CAGR of +17.0%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
In value terms, Colombia ($X) emerged as the largest drawn glass and blown glass supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 80% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Chile ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Brazil, with a 2.1% share.
In Colombia, drawn glass and blown glass exports increased at an average annual rate of +27.4% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Chile (+24.5% per year) and Brazil (-15.0% per year).

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 161% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Imports in MERCOSUR
In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of drawn glass and blown glass, when their volume decreased by -5.9% to X square meters. Total imports indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +15.6% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 112%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X square meters. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, drawn glass and blown glass imports soared to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Chile represented the major importing country with an import of about X square meters, which resulted at 52% of total imports. Guyana (X square meters) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 15% share, followed by Peru (12%) and Ecuador (9.5%). Colombia (X square meters), Brazil (X square meters) and Venezuela (X square meters) held a minor share of total imports.
Imports into Chile increased at an average annual rate of +8.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Colombia (+27.0%), Guyana (+12.7%), Venezuela (+11.6%) and Ecuador (+1.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Colombia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +27.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Peru (-7.0%) and Brazil (-15.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Chile, Guyana, Colombia and Venezuela increased by +23, +9.2, +3.7 and +1.9 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Chile ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported drawn glass and blown glass in MERCOSUR, comprising 38% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Guyana ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Brazil, with a 16% share.
In Chile, drawn glass and blown glass imports increased at an average annual rate of +9.6% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Guyana (+17.5% per year) and Brazil (-3.3% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per square meter in 2021, jumping by 104% against the previous year. Import price indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, drawn glass and blown glass import price decreased by -2.6% against 2019 indices. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per square meter in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per square meter), while Colombia ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
