In value terms, agricultural product dryer exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, saw a deep slump. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Argentina represented the main exporting country with an export of about X units, which finished at 57% of total exports. Brazil (X units) held a 27% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Peru (6.5%) and Chile (5.4%). Colombia (X units) held a little share of total exports.

Exports from Argentina decreased at an average annual rate of -7.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Chile (+19.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Chile emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +19.1% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Colombia (-1.8%), Peru (-3.7%) and Brazil (-9.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Chile (+4.8 p.p.) and Peru (+2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Argentina (-2.1 p.p.) and Brazil (-6.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest agricultural product dryer supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 65% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Argentina ($X), with a 30% share of total exports. It was followed by Chile, with a 2.5% share.

In Brazil, agricultural product dryer exports declined by an average annual rate of -7.7% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Argentina (-11.4% per year) and Chile (+19.4% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2021, waning by -23.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a slight decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the export price increased by 35%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per unit), while Peru ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+2.3%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in MERCOSUR

In 2021, agricultural product dryer imports in MERCOSUR rose significantly to X units, with an increase of 5.9% on 2020. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 76%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, agricultural product dryer imports amounted to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 70% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Brazil (X units), distantly followed by Paraguay (X units), Colombia (X units), Argentina (X units), Peru (X units) and Chile (X units) were the major importers of dryers for the treatment of agricultural products, together comprising 94% of total imports. Uruguay (X units) took a minor share of total imports.

The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2021, reducing by -5.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a mild descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 16%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
