Overall, exports recorded a noticeable contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 34%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, electrical insulating fittings exports contracted significantly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 36%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Brazil prevails in exports structure, recording X tons, which was approx. 88% of total exports in 2022. The following exporters - Peru (X tons), Chile (X tons), Argentina (X tons) and Paraguay (X tons) - together made up 11% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to electrical insulating fittings exports from Brazil stood at -3.0%. At the same time, Paraguay (+27.7%) and Chile (+10.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Paraguay emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +27.7% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Peru (-5.9%) and Argentina (-10.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Brazil (+4 p.p.) and Chile (+2.2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Argentina (-2.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest electrical insulating fittings supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 90% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Paraguay ($X), with a 3.1% share of total exports. It was followed by Argentina, with a 2.4% share.
In Brazil, electrical insulating fittings exports declined by an average annual rate of -7.6% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Paraguay (+32.8% per year) and Argentina (-8.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -19.3% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a perceptible slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the export price increased by 28% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Paraguay ($X per ton), while Peru ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Paraguay (+4.0%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in MERCOSUR
In 2022, approx. X tons of electrical insulating fittings of plastics were imported in MERCOSUR; waning by -5.6% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, imports continue to indicate a noticeable contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 14% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, electrical insulating fittings imports fell modestly to $X in 2022. In general, imports recorded a perceptible downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Brazil represented the major importing country with an import of around X tons, which resulted at 45% of total imports. Argentina (X tons) held an 18% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Paraguay (12%), Chile (12%) and Colombia (7.5%). Peru (X tons) took a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to electrical insulating fittings imports into Brazil stood at -7.4%. At the same time, Paraguay (+42.2%), Chile (+5.2%) and Colombia (+2.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Paraguay emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +42.2% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Argentina (-1.7%) and Peru (-7.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Paraguay (+12 p.p.), Chile (+7.1 p.p.), Argentina (+4.3 p.p.) and Colombia (+3.5 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Peru (-1.8 p.p.) and Brazil (-18.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Brazil ($X), Argentina ($X) and Paraguay ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 86% share of total imports.
Paraguay, with a CAGR of +70.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2022, remaining constant against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 16%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($X per ton), while Chile ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
