Exports in MERCOSUR
In 2022, exports of electromagnets and electromagnetic lifting heads in MERCOSUR reduced to X tons, falling by -14.6% on 2021 figures. In general, exports showed a pronounced descent. Brazil represented the largest exporting country with an export of about X tons, which reached 76% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Argentina (X tons) and Chile (X tons), together generating a 19% share of total exports. Peru (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Brazil decreased at an average annual rate of -3.4% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Peru (+12.4%) and Chile (+6.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Peru emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +12.4% from 2012-2022. Argentina experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. While the share of Chile (+4 p.p.), Peru (+2.4 p.p.) and Argentina (+2.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Brazil (-9.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest electromagnetic lifting head supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 88% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Argentina ($X), with a 6.4% share of total exports. It was followed by Chile, with a 3.4% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Brazil totaled +4.1%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Argentina (-0.9% per year) and Chile (-1.5% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 17% against the previous year. Export price indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, electromagnetic lifting head export price increased by +26.6% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 31%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while Peru ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+7.8%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in MERCOSUR
Electromagnetic lifting head imports reduced slightly to X tons in 2022, approximately reflecting the previous year's figure. Total imports indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +38.4% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 49% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2021, and then declined modestly in the following year.
In value terms, electromagnetic lifting head imports rose remarkably to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +57.8% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 48% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Brazil (X tons) was the main importer of electromagnets and electromagnetic lifting heads, achieving 76% of total imports. Argentina (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with an 11% share, followed by Peru (5.1%) and Chile (5%). Colombia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to electromagnetic lifting head imports into Brazil stood at +4.5%. At the same time, Colombia (+4.7%), Peru (+4.3%) and Argentina (+1.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Colombia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +4.7% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Chile (-3.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Brazil increased by +8.9 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Brazil ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported electromagnets and electromagnetic lifting heads in MERCOSUR, comprising 70% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Argentina ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Chile, with a 6% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Brazil stood at +4.8%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Argentina (+1.7% per year) and Chile (-4.3% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2022, increasing by 7.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Colombia ($X per ton), while Brazil ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
