Exports by Country
Uruguay was the key exporter of extracts of glands or other organs or of their secretions in MERCOSUR, with the volume of exports recording X tons, which was approx. 82% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Argentina (X tons), mixing up an 11% share of total exports. Brazil (X tons) and Colombia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

In value terms, Argentina ($X) remains the largest organ extracts supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 50% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Brazil ($X), with a 22% share of total exports. It was followed by Uruguay, with a 19% share.
In Argentina, organ extracts exports decreased by an average annual rate of -14.4% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Brazil (-15.3% per year) and Uruguay (+7.9% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2021, almost unchanged from the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 41%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Imports in MERCOSUR
After two years of growth, purchases abroad of extracts of glands or other organs or of their secretions decreased by -22.5% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports saw a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 63%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, organ extracts imports fell sharply to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a sharp descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 27%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Brazil (X tons) represented the main importer of extracts of glands or other organs or of their secretions, achieving 49% of total imports. Venezuela (X tons) held a 22% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Colombia (15%) and Paraguay (7%). The following importers - Peru (X kg) and Chile (X kg) - each accounted for a 5.1% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to organ extracts imports into Brazil stood at -7.6%. At the same time, Colombia (+19.5%) and Chile (+6.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Colombia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +19.5% from 2012-2021. Paraguay experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Peru (-4.8%) and Venezuela (-13.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Colombia (+13 p.p.), Paraguay (+3.9 p.p.) and Chile (+1.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Venezuela (-18.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Venezuela ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported extracts of glands or other organs or of their secretions in MERCOSUR, comprising 59% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Brazil ($X), with a 21% share of total imports. It was followed by Colombia, with an 8.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Venezuela stood at -16.7%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Brazil (-38.6% per year) and Colombia (+9.8% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per kg, remaining stable against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a precipitous decline.
