In value terms, fertilizer exports soared to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Chile dominates exports structure, resulting at X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Brazil (X tons), Venezuela (X tons) and Colombia (X tons), together constituting a X% share of total exports. Argentina (X tons) took a little share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to fertilizer exports from Chile stood at X%. At the same time, Colombia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Colombia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Brazil (X%), Venezuela (X%) and Argentina (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Chile (X p.p.) and Colombia (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Brazil (X p.p.), Argentina (X p.p.) and Venezuela (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Chile ($X) remains the largest fertilizer supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Brazil ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Colombia, with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Chile stood at X%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Brazil (X% per year) and Colombia (X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2022, increasing by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while Venezuela ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

For the seventh consecutive year, MERCOSUR recorded growth in supplies from abroad of fertilizers, which increased by X% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports posted prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Imports by Country

Brazil prevails in imports structure, amounting to X tons, which was approx. X% of total imports in 2022. Argentina (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Colombia (X tons). All these countries together took approx. X% share of total imports. Peru (X tons), Uruguay (X tons), Paraguay (X tons) and Ecuador (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.

Brazil was also the fastest-growing in terms of the fertilizers imports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Argentina (X%), Uruguay (X%), Colombia (X%), Ecuador (X%), Paraguay (X%) and Peru (X%) displayed positive paces of growth.
