Over the period under review, exports, however, posted significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 351% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, wood flat pallet exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 120%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Brazil prevails in exports structure, amounting to X units, which was approx. 92% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Chile (X units), committing a 6.4% share of total exports.

Brazil was also the fastest-growing in terms of the flat pallets and pallet collars of wood exports, with a CAGR of +28.4% from 2012 to 2021. Chile experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Brazil (+40 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Chile saw its share reduced by -26.4% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In general, imports showed a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 107% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, wood flat pallet imports shrank dramatically to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, posted moderate growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 53% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Argentina represented the largest importer of flat pallets and pallet collars of wood in MERCOSUR, with the volume of imports resulting at X units, which was near 41% of total imports in 2021. Chile (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 22% share, followed by Guyana (7.2%), Peru (5.4%) and Uruguay (5%). The following importers - Colombia (X units), Paraguay (X units) and Venezuela (X units) - each amounted to a 13% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Chile (with a CAGR of +57.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Argentina ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported flat pallets and pallet collars of wood in MERCOSUR, comprising 58% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Chile ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Peru, with a 7.1% share.
