Exports in MERCOSUR
In 2022, overseas shipments of flat panel video monitor, lcd or plasma increased by 23% to X units, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Over the period under review, exports saw a mild expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 101% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, LCDs and plasmas exports stood at $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 185%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Chile (X units) represented the main exporter of flat panel video monitor, lcd or plasma, committing 48% of total exports. Brazil (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Suriname (X units), Argentina (X units) and Colombia (X units). All these countries together took near 50% share of total exports.
Exports from Chile increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Suriname (+60.4%), Colombia (+14.9%) and Brazil (+2.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Suriname emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +60.4% from 2012-2022. Argentina experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Chile, Suriname, Colombia and Brazil increased by +16, +15, +4.9 and +2.4 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest LCDs and plasmas supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 71% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Chile ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Colombia, with a 6.1% share.
In Brazil, LCDs and plasmas exports expanded at an average annual rate of +16.5% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Chile (-15.1% per year) and Colombia (+5.5% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2022, with a decrease of -8.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a slight descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the export price increased by 73% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per unit), while Argentina ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+13.8%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in MERCOSUR
In 2022, lcds and plasmas imports in MERCOSUR soared to X units, jumping by 40% against the year before. Total imports indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +46.5% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, LCDs and plasmas imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Argentina (X units) and Chile (X units) were the key importers of flat panel video monitor, lcd or plasma in MERCOSUR, together creating 55% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Peru (X units), Colombia (X units), Brazil (X units), Paraguay (X units) and Ecuador (X units), together comprising a 42% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Paraguay (with a CAGR of +17.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Chile ($X), Argentina ($X) and Brazil ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together accounting for 65% of total imports. Peru, Colombia, Paraguay and Ecuador lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 31%.
Among the main importing countries, Paraguay, with a CAGR of +14.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2022, approximately equating the previous year. In general, the import price saw a mild decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 18% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2022, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per unit), while Peru ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
