The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.

In value terms, Brazil ($X), Chile ($X) and Colombia ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 82% share of total imports. Uruguay, Argentina, Peru and Ecuador lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 15%.

Argentina, with a CAGR of +25.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the import price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per ton, growing by 2.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the import price increased by 8.7%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
