The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 234%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, grapefruit juice (single strength) exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, exports enjoyed a strong expansion. Moreover, Peru emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +65.4% from 2012-2021. Uruguay (+15 p.p.), Paraguay (+2.1 p.p.) and Peru (+2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Argentina saw its share reduced by -19.6% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
In value terms, the largest grapefruit juice (single strength) supplying countries in MERCOSUR were Argentina ($X), Uruguay ($X) and Peru ($X), with a combined 98% share of total exports.
Among the main exporting countries, Peru, with a CAGR of +53.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a mild descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the export price increased by 34%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uruguay ($X per ton), while Paraguay ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (-1.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Over the period under review, imports showed a pronounced reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 56% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Chile (X tons) was the main importer of grapefruit juice (single strength), generating 67% of total imports. Uruguay (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 14% share, followed by Paraguay (6.5%). Ecuador (X tons), Guyana (X tons), Brazil (X tons) and Venezuela (X tons) held a minor share of total imports.
Imports into Chile increased at an average annual rate of +39.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Paraguay (+49.8%), Venezuela (+14.8%), Guyana (+11.3%), Ecuador (+6.1%) and Uruguay (+4.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Paraguay emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +49.8% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Brazil (-2.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, Ecuador and Guyana increased by +64, +6.7, +6.4, +2.6 and +2.2 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Chile ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported grapefruit juice (single strength) in MERCOSUR, comprising 68% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uruguay ($X), with a 9.9% share of total imports. It was followed by Paraguay, with a 9% share.
In Chile, grapefruit juice (single strength) imports increased at an average annual rate of +37.1% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Uruguay (+0.6% per year) and Paraguay (+58.3% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 4.4% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.4%.
