In general, imports, however, recorded a dramatic decline. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, cyclanic, cyclenic hydrocarbons derivatives imports rose rapidly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 108%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Brazil represented the major importing country with an import of around X tons, which recorded 69% of total imports. Argentina (X kg) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Ecuador (X kg). All these countries together held near 18% share of total imports. Chile (X kg), Peru (X kg), Paraguay (X kg) and Colombia (X kg) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to cyclanic, cyclenic hydrocarbons derivatives imports into Brazil stood at -27.7%. At the same time, Paraguay (+80.7%), Ecuador (+76.7%), Colombia (+28.8%) and Peru (+2.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Brazil ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported halogenated derivatives of cyclanic, cyclenic or cycloterpenic hydrocarbons in MERCOSUR, comprising 68% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Ecuador ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by Peru, with a 4.8% share.
In Brazil, cyclanic, cyclenic hydrocarbons derivatives imports plunged by an average annual rate of -15.6% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Ecuador (+61.1% per year) and Peru (+22.5% per year).
