Exports in MERCOSUR
After three years of decline, shipments abroad of hand-held blow pipes for soldering, brazing or welding increased by 19% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 27% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, hand-held blow pipe exports reached $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a deep setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 22% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Brazil prevails in exports structure, reaching X units, which was approx. 83% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Colombia (X units), constituting a 5.7% share of total exports. The following exporters - Chile (X units) and Argentina (X units) - together made up 7.5% of total exports.
Exports from Brazil decreased at an average annual rate of -3.3% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Chile (+21.0%) and Colombia (+16.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Chile emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +21.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Argentina (-27.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Brazil (+31 p.p.), Colombia (+5 p.p.) and Chile (+4 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Argentina saw its share reduced by -21.4% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest hand-held blow pipe supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 91% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Chile ($X), with a 3.4% share of total exports. It was followed by Colombia, with a 1.7% share.
In Brazil, hand-held blow pipe exports decreased by an average annual rate of -5.7% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Chile (+17.0% per year) and Colombia (+0.7% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2021, with a decrease of -11.8% against the previous year. Export price indicated a slight increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, hand-held blow pipe export price decreased by -30.0% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the export price increased by 27% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2019 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per unit), while Colombia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+5.2%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in MERCOSUR
In 2021, the amount of hand-held blow pipes for soldering, brazing or welding imported in MERCOSUR soared to X units, with an increase of 69% on 2020 figures. Total imports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, Brazil (X units), distantly followed by Chile (X units), Colombia (X units), Argentina (X units), Ecuador (X units) and Peru (X units) were the largest importers of hand-held blow pipes for soldering, brazing or welding, together constituting 95% of total imports. Uruguay (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Ecuador (with a CAGR of +25.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Brazil ($X), Chile ($X) and Colombia ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 81% share of total imports. Argentina, Peru, Ecuador and Uruguay lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 16%.
Among the main importing countries, Argentina, with a CAGR of +11.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per unit, surging by 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a pronounced reduction. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per unit), while Uruguay ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Peru (-1.3%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
