The MERCOSUR chicken egg market reached $X in 2022, approximately mirroring the previous year. The country with the largest volume of chicken egg production was Brazil (X tons), comprising approx. 51% of total volume. Moreover, chicken egg production in Brazil exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, Colombia (X tons), threefold. Argentina (X tons) ranked third in terms of total production with a 14% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume in Brazil stood at +4.7%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Colombia (+4.6% per year) and Argentina (+3.9% per year).

Exports in MERCOSUR

Chicken egg exports shrank to X tons in 2022, with a decrease of -8.3% against 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 75% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, chicken egg exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a pronounced slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 56%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Brazil dominates exports structure, resulting at X tons, which was approx. 89% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Argentina (X tons), creating a 9.2% share of total exports.

Exports from Brazil decreased at an average annual rate of -5.4% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Argentina (+49.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Argentina emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +49.6% from 2012-2022. Argentina (+9.1 p.p.) and Brazil (+2.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest chicken egg supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 96% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Argentina ($X), with a 2.1% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Brazil totaled -1.3%.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 34% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.1%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while Argentina stood at $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+4.3%).

Imports in MERCOSUR

In 2022, the amount of chicken eggs imported in MERCOSUR soared to X tons, surging by 15% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, imports, however, recorded a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 37% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, chicken egg imports surged to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 35% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Paraguay (X tons) and Chile (X tons) represented the largest importers of chicken eggs in 2022, resulting at approx. 27% and 25% of total imports, respectively. Guyana (X tons) held a 15% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Colombia (9.1%), Peru (8.7%), Suriname (5.5%) and Brazil (4.8%).

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Chile (with a CAGR of +169.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported chicken eggs in MERCOSUR, comprising 63% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Guyana ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Paraguay, with an 11% share.

In Brazil, chicken egg imports expanded at an average annual rate of +12.6% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Guyana (+58.1% per year) and Paraguay (+7.2% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per ton, growing by 16% against the previous year. Import price indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last decade.
