Brazil was the largest exporting country with an export of about X units, which finished at 76% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Chile (X units), generating a 19% share of total exports. Colombia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Brazil increased at an average annual rate of +14.3% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Chile (+29.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Chile emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +29.6% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Colombia (-3.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Chile (+13 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Colombia (-9.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest industrial robot supplying countries in MERCOSUR were Brazil ($X), Chile ($X) and Colombia ($X), together accounting for 95% of total exports.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Chile, with a CAGR of +39.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2021, increasing by 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 495% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per unit), while Colombia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+7.8%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in MERCOSUR
Industrial robot imports soared to X units in 2021, growing by 25% against the year before. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable downturn. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country
In 2021, Brazil (X units) was the key importer of industrial robots for multiple uses, mixing up 68% of total imports. Argentina (X units) held an 11% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Ecuador (6.3%), Chile (6.3%) and Peru (4.5%). Colombia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to industrial robot imports into Brazil stood at -5.7%. At the same time, Ecuador (+32.6%), Peru (+24.3%), Chile (+8.1%) and Colombia (+7.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Ecuador emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +32.6% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Argentina (-1.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Ecuador (+5.9 p.p.), Peru (+4 p.p.), Chile (+4 p.p.), Colombia (+1.9 p.p.) and Argentina (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Brazil (-16.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Brazil ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported industrial robots for multiple uses in MERCOSUR, comprising 65% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Chile ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Argentina, with an 11% share.
In Brazil, industrial robot imports contracted by an average annual rate of -5.5% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Chile (+12.2% per year) and Argentina (-2.7% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2021, surging by 3.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 19%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per unit), while Ecuador ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
