Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 128% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, metal solid fuel appliances exports soared to $X in 2022. In general, exports showed a perceptible increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 87%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

In 2022, Chile (X units) was the largest exporter of iron or steel solid fuel domestic appliances, generating 70% of total exports. Brazil (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Argentina (X units). All these countries together held near 30% share of total exports.

Exports from Chile decreased at an average annual rate of -3.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Argentina (+25.0%) and Brazil (+7.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Argentina emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +25.0% from 2012-2022. While the share of Argentina (+10 p.p.) and Brazil (+9.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Chile (-20.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Brazil ($X), Chile ($X) and Argentina ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together comprising 99% of total exports.

Among the main exporting countries, Brazil, with a CAGR of +32.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2022, falling by -8.3% against the previous year. Export price indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, metal solid fuel appliances export price increased by +20.3% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 61%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per unit), while Chile ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+23.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in MERCOSUR

In 2022, approx. X units of iron or steel solid fuel domestic appliances were imported in MERCOSUR; with an increase of 15% compared with 2021. Overall, imports enjoyed buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 82% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, metal solid fuel appliances imports reduced to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports posted a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 64%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

Imports by Country

Brazil represented the main importing country with an import of about X units, which reached 48% of total imports. Chile (X units) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Uruguay (X units) and Ecuador (X units). All these countries together took near 46% share of total imports. Peru (X units) and Argentina (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Ecuador (with a CAGR of +34.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest metal solid fuel appliances importing markets in MERCOSUR were Chile ($X), Uruguay ($X) and Brazil ($X), together comprising 92% of total imports.

Uruguay, with a CAGR of +20.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2022, shrinking by -13.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a perceptible decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the import price increased by 21%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2022, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Uruguay ($X per unit), while Brazil ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uruguay (+4.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
